Heroic Rescue in Jammu: Man Saved from Raging Tawi River After Hour-Long Ordeal | ABP NEWS
A dramatic rescue operation in Jammu ended successfully as a man trapped in the strong current of the Tawi River was brought to safety after nearly an hour. The river, typically dry, saw a sudden surge in water levels due to heavy rainfall in the hilly regions, creating a flash flood-like situation. The man, caught in the swift current near a pillar under the bridge, was unable to escape on his own. ABP News was the first to report the incident, and the report prompted swift action from local authorities. The SDRF team arrived at the scene and launched a daring rescue. Using a rope-ladder dropped from the bridge above, the man slowly climbed up toward safety. As he reached closer, SDRF personnel stationed on the bridge extended a helping hand and pulled him out. Rescue officer Devender Sharma, who was instrumental in the operation, described the mission as high-risk due to strong water currents and windy conditions. “We had secured the man with a harness; there was no room for fear,” Sharma said proudly. His courage and training saved a life today. Cheers erupted from bystanders as the man was rescued, marking a moment of collective relief and gratitude.
