Kejriwal turning Punjab into police state, alleges Congress’ Sukhpal Khaira, backs Bikram Majithia
Congress leader and MLA Sukhpal Khaira on Wednesday came out in support of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia following a raid by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau at Majithia’s residence in Amritsar.
In a video posted on his official Facebook account, Khaira condemned the raid, calling it an act of political vendetta and expressing concerns over the deteriorating political climate in Punjab.
“I strongly condemn the raid against Bikram Majithia, which was carried out with political vendetta. Punjab has now turned into a police state,” he said.
Majithia, who is under investigation in a 2021 drug case, alleged that a 30-member team from the Vigilance Bureau entered his home without informing the family of the reason behind the raid. His wife, Akali MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia, also stated that they were not notified about the purpose of the operation.
Sharing a video on X, Majithia accused the Bhagwant Mann-led government of targeting him with false cases.
“Bhagwant Mann ji, understand this, no matter how many FIRs you register, neither will I be afraid nor will your government suppress my voice,” Majithia said.
“I have always talked about the issues of Punjab and will continue to do so,” he added.
