Vishal Yadav, who worked as a clerk at the Indian Navy’s headquarters in Delhi, has been arrested for spying. Police say he passed secret Navy details to Pakistan’s spy service, the ISI. Rajasthan’s intelligence team had been watching him online for months. They noticed he was in close touch through social media with a woman calling herself “Priya Sharma.” Investigators believe she is actually an ISI agent. According to the police, she paid Yadav for any sensitive information he could get.
When officers examined his phone, they found years of chats and shared files. Some of these exchanges happened during “Operation Sindoor,” India’s strike on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after the Pahalgam attack.
Pak spy Vishal Yadav was paid via crypto trades
According to a report in NDTV, Vishal Yadav was receiving payments through cryptocurrency trades as well as directly into his bank account. As per the police, he had become addicted to online gaming and lost a lot of money, which may have pushed him into leaking sensitive defence information.
He is currently being questioned by several intelligence agencies at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur. Authorities are trying to find out how much information was leaked and if anyone else was involved in the spy network.
India’s crackdown on suspected Pakistani spy activities
This arrest is part of a bigger crackdown on suspected Pakistani spy activities after the terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed more than 26 civilians. Since then, several people across India have been held for allegedly working with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, often by staying in touch with handlers through social media.
In Rajasthan, another case came to light when a government worker named Shakur Khan was arrested in Jaisalmer for spying. In Haryana, Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber and vlogger, was also detained.
Investigators say she was in contact with a Pakistani officer working at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi during “Operation Sindoor”, a four-day military operation from May 7 to 10, launched by India in response to the Pahalgam attack.
