Will There Be Toll For Two-Wheelers On Mumbai-Pune, Pune-Bangalore Highways?
After reports circulated in some media outlets suggesting that the Government of India might introduce toll charges for two-wheelers, social media in Pune was abuzz with concern from commuters using the Pune-Mumbai and Pune-Bangalore highways.
Responding to the speculation, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) issued a clarification stating that no such proposal is under consideration. The authority confirmed that there are no plans to impose toll fees on two-wheelers on national highways.
The clarification aimed to ease concerns among daily riders and intercity travelers who rely on these routes for affordable commuting. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari also clarifed on the matter.
Toll plazas in Pune district
Pune district hosts several key toll plazas on major national and state highways and expressways, including the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Pune-Satara Highway. Prominent toll points include Khedshivapur on NH-4, Sardewadi and Varwade on the Pune–Solapur route (NH-9), and the Khalapur and Talegaon plazas on the expressway. Additionally, local tolls operate on routes like Pune–Paud, Chakan–Shikrapur, and Perne Phata.
