KARGIL, June 26: Marking the lead-up to Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Army flagged off the ‘Forever in Operations Mountain Terrain Bicycle Expedition 2025’ from Siachen Base Camp, here today. The expedition features 20 trained Army personnel who will cycle across 650 km of rugged Ladakhi terrain, culminating at the Kargil War Memorial, Drass, on July 10.
The challenging route includes glaciated tracks, river crossings, high-altitude passes and oxygen-scarce conditions — a true test of both physical endurance and mental resilience. The expedition reflects the Army’s enduring motto: “Forever in Operations.”
Connecting Siachen, the world’s highest active battlefield, to Kargil, a symbol of gallantry and sacrifice, the ride pays homage to the bravery of soldiers who secured India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War.
Beyond the ride, the cyclists will also engage in community outreach programs, visiting schools and villages to interact with locals, veterans, and students. These activities aim to instill patriotism, strengthen civil-military bonds, and celebrate the indomitable spirit of the armed forces.
This high-altitude expedition stands as a tribute to the supreme sacrifices of India’s soldiers and a reminder of the military’s unwavering readiness to defend the nation, even in the harshest terrains.
