Paresh Rawal confirms return to ‘Hera Pheri 3’: ‘You can’t take things for granted’

Paresh Rawal has confirmed his return for the third instalment of the Hera Pheri franchise, following a messy internal drama. In an interview with Himanshu Mehta on his podcast, the actor announced his return, calling it a fan service to the audience who has held the previous two films close to their heart.

Clarifying that there is no controversy, he said, “I believe that when people have loved something so much, then you have to be extra careful. It is our responsibility toward the audience. The audience has given you so much adulation. You can’t take things for granted.” He added that all issues between him and the team have been resolved and everyone involved is now collaborating again.
Explaining that the team had to “fine-tune” themselves, he still considers his co-stars to be good friends. “After all, all of them are creative, be it Priyadarshan (director of Hera Pheri 3), Akshay (Kumar) or Suniel (Shetty). They are friends for many, many, many years.”
‘Hera Pheri 3’ controversy
The issue began in early May, when Rawal, part of the franchise’s core trio, announced his abrupt departure from film. The announcement came as a shock to fans of the beloved franchise.
Rawal’s exit did not come without backlash from the production. His co-star Akshay Kumar, who also bankrolls the film under his Cape of Good Films banner, sued the actor for Rs 25 crore in damages. “Paresh displayed a blatant disregard for professional integrity or commercial morality. If he wanted to not do the film, he should have said so before signing the legal contract, accepting the signing amount and making the producer spend so much money on the shoot,” the legal notice sent to Rawal stated.

In response, Rawal alleged that he was not sent a script for Hera Pheri 3 or a draft of a long-form agreement, both of which were essential to him.
