Family Of Four Killed In Tumakuru Crash While Dropping Son To Hostel
Tumakuru (Karnataka), Jun 30 (PTI) — Four members of a family, including a 13-year-old boy, lost their lives in a tragic road accident when their car collided head-on with a speeding mini truck near Kunigal bypass in Tumakuru district, police said on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Seebe Gowda (50), his wife Shobha (45), their daughter Dumbishree (23), and son Bhanukiran (13), according to officials.
The accident occurred around 8 PM on Sunday. The family was travelling from Magadi town to drop Bhanukiran, a Class 8 student at Valley School, back to his hostel located near Bidanagere on the outskirts of Kunigal.

After having dinner, the family was on their way to the hostel when the fatal crash occurred. As they reached the Kunigal bypass, a Canter truck, which was reportedly speeding and coming from the wrong direction on a one-way road, collided head-on with their car.

A senior police officer noted that the car was also moving at high speed at the time of the accident. The impact was so intense that all four occupants of the car died on the spot.
Police immediately responded to the scene and initiated legal proceedings. The driver of the mini truck has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and has been taken into custody, the officer added.
Further investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the accident. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, as a family outing meant to return a child to school ended in devastating loss.
