Netflix announces streaming date of new thriller series 'Mandala Murders'

After The Railway Men, YRF Entertainment, the streaming division of Yash Raj Films, has reteamed with Netflix for a thriller series, Mandala Murders, the release date of which was announced by the streamer as July 25.

Created by Gopi Puthran, the series will have episodes directed by him and Manan Rawat. Puthran is known for directing the Mardaani films starring Rani Mukerji. He made his debut at YRF as the writer of Lafangey Parindey.

According to Netflix, Mandala Murders is a "genre-bending show packed with mystery, crime, myths and suspense." The series is set in a fictional town called Charandaspur rocked by a series of ritualistic killings that are said to be linked to a centuries-old secret society.

Vaani Kapoor and Vaibhav Raj Gupta play detectives investigating the killings. Surveen Chawla and Shriya Pilgaokar are also part of the cast in significant roles in the series, which has Aditya Chopra, Uday Chopra, Yogendra Mogre, and Akshaye Widhani as executive producers.

Mandala Murders is among the Netflix India releases announced earlier along with other upcoming July titles like Aap Jaisa Koi (starring R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh). 

YRF Entertainment also has another upcoming series, Akka, led by Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte. However, a release date is yet to be announced. Set in the 1980s, in the fictional city of Pernuru, South India, Akka explores a matriarchal society and a tale of gangster queens who run into conflict with external forces. Aside from Keerthy and Radhika, veteran actress Tanvi Azmi is also part of the cast, which features a few faces from Malayalam cinema.
