2025 might be an iconic year for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in cricketing terms as they won their first-ever IPL title, breaking an 18-year-old jinx. However, the incidents that have followed has put the franchise in a bad light, particularly the stampede row that saw multiple deaths and the subsequent arrest of their senior employee.
The latest blow to the franchise has come in the form of pacer Yash Dayal who is facing allegations of sexual harassment. The left-arm pacer played a critical part in RCB's title win this year with 13 wickets from 15 matches and has been a critical part of Uttar Pradesh's domestic teams across all formats.
A complaint has been filed against the 27-year-old by a woman from Ghaziabad, citing physical and mental exploitation under the pretext of marriage. The complaint was lodged on Saturday (June 28) on the Chief Minister's online grievance portal. The woman had earlier also lodged a complaint on June 14 on the women's helpline on similar grounds.
According to the complaint, Dayal had promised to marry the woman and had also introduced her to his family as their future 'daughter-in-law', further convincing the complainant of a probable marriage. Reportedly, the woman also claims to have all the evidence to support her allegations. The complaint also mentions that Yash Dayal had similar incidents with multiple women and that the complainant had only got to know about it at a later stage.
When she confronted Dayal on this matter, she was allegedly subject to extreme levels of physical and mental harassment. The complainant also revealed that her initial complaint with the women's helpline didn't make satisfactory progress and left her in a helpless state.
The UP CM's office has demanded a report from the Circle Officer of Indirapuram, Ghaziabad regarding this complaint with July 21 as the deadline for submission.
