100g of heroin, 3 illegal pistols recovered
The Commissionerate Police has recovered 100 g of heroin, three illegal .32 bore pistols and six cartridges with the arrest of one person from Amritsar.
Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur said the recovery was made after the arrest of Sukhjit Singh, alias Sukha, of Bishamberpura, Chativind, Amritsar, on June 23. She said the recovery was in continuation of the recovery of 13 kg heroin, three luxury cars, two illegal pistols (.32 bore), six cartridges and ₹22,000 drug proceeds last month.
An FIR had then been lodged against them under Sections 21-C, 27-A, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act and 25(1) B of the Arms Act at Police Station Division No. 8. Shivam Sodhi, alias Shiva of Simran Enclave near Lamma Pind Chowk, was then arrested on May 20 while Barinder Singh alias Babbu of Amar Nagar was arrested on May 22.
Based on sustained interrogation during their remand, the involvement of a third accomplice came to light, leading to the arrest of Sukhjit. In all in the same case, there have been three arrests and recovery of 13.1 kg heroin, five illegal .32 bore pistols, 12 cartridges, three magazines, three luxury vehicles and ₹22,000 in drug money. Further investigations into the wider network and financial links of the accused are ongoing.
