Mahadangal: Waqf Act Row Escalates, BJP-RJD Clash Heats Up Ahead of Bihar Elections | ABP NEWS
With just two months left for Bihar elections, the political battleground is intensifying as the BJP and RJD exchange fierce allegations. The latest flashpoint is RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s comment suggesting the Waqf Act amendment should be "thrown into the dustbin." BJP leaders reacted sharply, calling it unconstitutional and an attempt to appease Muslim voters. Quoting Article 256 of the Constitution, BJP leaders claimed no state government can discard a central law. They accused Tejashwi of supporting Sharia law and Halal politics, and even suggested that such views align more with Pakistan than India. BJP’s Pradeep Bhandari further pointed to Lalu Prasad Yadav's past statements on Muslim reservation, calling it a pattern of minority appeasement. Tejashwi hit back, saying BJP is spreading communal hatred and distracting from real issues. He emphasized his politics is based on “karma” and development, not religion, promising to beautify both temples and mosques. RJD’s Nawal Kishore defended the remark, highlighting how even PM Modi repealed farm laws after public backlash, proving that unjust laws can be reversed. As religious rhetoric dominates the discourse, both parties are drawing clear battle lines—BJP appealing to Hindu voters, while RJD positions itself as a defender of secularism and social justice.
