Why did Akbar start his own faith, ‘Din-i-llahi’?

Akbar, the great Mughal ruler, adopted a policy of universal peace, influenced by his diverse subjects. Interactions and debates in Ibadat Khana led him to question religious practices. He then introduced Din-i Ilahi, a syncretic faith promoting virtues like beneficence and devotion. This new spiritual path attracted followers like Birbal and Abul Fazl, fostering religious harmony during his reign.
