Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and Ashura is celebrated on the 10th day. This date depends on the sighting of the moon. Therefore, there may be a holiday on 6 or 7 July. Schools, colleges and government offices will remain closed in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand and West Bengal. If Muharram falls on 6 July (Sunday), then some schools will not be given additional leave. But there is a high possibility of a holiday on Monday (7 July 2025).

Guru Purnima (10 July 2025, Thursday)

Guru Purnima is an important festival of Hindu, Jain and Buddhist communities. It is celebrated in honor of the gurus.

Many schools may be closed in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Cultural programs may be organized in some schools, but there is no study on this day. There is no national holiday on Guru Purnima. Holiday on this day depends on the institution. Schools, colleges or other institutions can give holiday as per their wish.

Second Saturday of the month (12 July 2025)

In many states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana, the second Saturday of the month is a holiday in schools.

Regional and weather-based holidays
