Lakhs witness Tiruchendur Lord Muruga temple consecration
CHENNAI, July 7: Lakhs of devotees from across Tamil Nadu and abroad witnessed the consecration (Maha Kumbabhishekham) of Tiruchenru Lord Murugan Temple today.
The temple, located on the seashore in the southern Thoothukudi district, is one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga.
The consecration was held after a gap of 18 years.
Vedic hymns were recited as part of the consecration and the temple priests poured the holy water in the temple tower kalasams to mark the occasion.
Later, the holy water were sprinkled on teeming devotees, who had thronged the temple town since yesterday, using drones.
Police had made elaborate security arrangements and also erected a 40,000 sqft mega dias to enable the devotees to witness the consecration.
Annadhanams (free meals) were served to all the devotees over the last two days by setting up a special kitchen to prepare high quality food.
Tamil Nadu HR and CE Minister P K Sekar Babu who witnessed the consecration said the pending works in and around the temple would be completed by October. (UNI)
