Orange alert for heavy rain in three districts

Very heavy to heavy rainfall is likely to occur in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh. The state Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning of heavy rain for Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts and a yellow warning of heavy rain for Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts. A yellow alert of heavy rain has also been issued for the state till July 20.

This spell of heavy rain is very likely to trigger landslides and mudslides as well as waterlogging in many areas of the state for where orange weather warning has been issued. People have been advised to avoid going to vulnerable areas and areas that face the waterlogging problems often. People have also been advised to avoid going near water bodies, to avoid trekking and to limit outdoor activities.

A few spells of heavy rain along with light to moderate rainfall will continue to occur at many places in the state till July 20. No large changes will be recorded in minimum and maximum temperatures as they are most likely to remain normal during the next few days.

Meanwhile, monsoon activity was normal in the state with heavy rain in isolated areas and light to moderate rain at many places during the past 24 hours.
