Allahabad High Court Stays Arrest Of Cricketer Yash Dayal In Sexual Exploitation Case
The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday granted interim relief to cricketer Yash Dayal, staying his arrest in connection with a case of alleged sexual exploitation filed against him in Ghaziabad. The court also directed that no coercive action be taken against the cricketer until the next hearing.
Dayal, who currently represents Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League, had moved the high court seeking quashing of the FIR lodged against him.
Court Issues Interim Protection To Yash Dayal
A division bench comprising Justices Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar passed the order after hearing Dayal’s plea. The cricketer's lawyer, Gaurav Tripathi, confirmed to PTI that the court has protected his client from arrest till further proceedings.
The FIR was filed on July 6 at Indirapuram Police Station under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to “sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means.”
According to the complainant, Dayal allegedly sexually exploited her over several years, having promised marriage. The woman claims the two met around five years ago, during which time Dayal repeatedly assured her of marriage but kept postponing it.
The complainant further stated that she later discovered Dayal was involved with multiple women, which led her to file a formal grievance. The complaint was initially submitted on June 21 through the Chief Minister’s Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) portal.
The matter has stirred controversy, given Dayal’s public profile as a professional cricketer. With the court now stepping in, the next hearing is expected to determine whether the charges warrant further legal action or dismissal.
