Aqua fitness gains momentum in city amid rising temperatures

As the summer sun blazes across the city, residents are diving headfirst into wellness, literally. With temperatures climbing, the city’s fitness enthusiasts are swapping out treadmills for turquoise pools, embracing aqua zumba and water-based pilates as their go-to workouts.

City pools and outdoor club venues are pulsing with the beat of energising music and the rhythmic splash of movement. Aqua zumba classes, offering cardio in the comfort of cool waters, have become weekly rituals for many.

In a city where summer temperatures soar high, the trend is not just smart it’s necessary. Experts say aquatic workouts are ideal for individuals of all ages due to their low-impact nature and cooling benefits.

“Honestly, it’s the best part of my week,” said Ishrat Kaur, adding, “You’re dancing, you’re sweating but it’s in the pool, so you stay refreshed. It’s both a workout and therapy.”

Adding a splash of sophistication to the mix is ‘Pilates on the Rocks’, a recent event led by celebrity trainer Namrata Purohit. With attendees in huge number the event blended water workouts, meditative movement and wellness awareness in a format never seen before in the city.

Performed while partially submerged or on floating platforms, ‘Pilates on the Rocks’ introduced Ludhiana to a workout that’s both physically demanding and deeply calming.

“Pilates in water helps me build strength without straining my joints,” shared marketing executive Ritu Malhotra. “With the sun overhead and cool water around it’s like working out in paradise,” she added.

“Ludhiana’s residents know how to turn situations into opportunities,” said fitness enthusiast Neha Bansal, who frequently attends water-based workout classes. “Instead of giving in to the heat, they’re transforming it into motivation. Water workouts don’t just beat the temperature they boost energy,” she said.

From wellness trends making a splash in local pools to pioneering events like ‘Pilates on the Rocks’, Ludhiana is proving that fitness isn’t limited by seasons it just needs a creative twist.
