Cannabis worth ₹1.9 cr seized; 4 nabbed in Delhi
The Delhi Police have busted a major inter-state drug racket and arrested four persons with cannabis worth over Rs 1.9 crore in Dwarka. According to police officials, the main supplier was later tracked and arrested in Odisha.
“Acting on a tip-off, our team intercepted a truck and a car near Sector 19 in Dwarka, where the accused were allegedly in the process of shifting cannabis from the truck to the car,” said a police official.
The three men arrested at the scene were identified as Lokesh (27), Ashish (20) and Moeen Khan (24).
During questioning, the trio admitted that the narcotics were procured from Odisha. Acting on their statements, police arrested the supplier, Srikant Prasad (33), from Odisha on July 10.
The police said Lokesh and Ashish, both residents of Maheshwari village in Rewari, Haryana, became involved in drug trafficking to earn quick money, while Moeen Khan, hailing from Nuh, was responsible for transporting the narcotics using rented trucks.
Srikant Prasad, originally from Bihar, is a repeated offender with a known history of drug-related crimes. He was allegedly operating from Odisha and was supplying cannabis to clients across Delhi, Haryana and other nearby states.
Efforts were underway to uncover the full extent of the network and identify others involved in the supply chain, the official added.
