ABVP holds ‘Buddhi Shuddhi Yagya’ on fourth day of indefinite sit-in at DU

The indefinite sit-in protest led by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Delhi University entered its fourth consecutive day on Thursday, with students staging a symbolic ‘Buddhi Shuddhi Yagya’—a ritual praying for the enlightenment of the university administration.

The protest, which began on July 21, is aimed at pressing key student-centric demands. Undeterred by intense heat and heavy rains, ABVP members have continued their round-the-clock demonstration at the university campus. With the administration yet to issue any formal response, protesters conducted the ‘yagya’ to invoke a change in approach from the authorities.

ABVP Delhi state secretary Sarthak Sharma expressed concern over the administration’s continued inaction, saying, “The insensitivity of the DU administration is deeply concerning. Students have been voicing their issues since a long time yet the administration continues to turn a blind eye. Today’s ‘yagya’ was conducted with the hope that university administration gains the wisdom to resolve student issues. ABVP will continue this struggle until every student demand is met.”

Despite the lack of engagement from university officials, ABVP has vowed to sustain the protest until all its demands are met, reaffirming their commitment to student welfare.
