After losing Nobel Peace Prize, Trump makes BIG statement, says,’ Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina called…,accepted prize in…’
While a chorus of political leaders insists that Trump should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the man himself reminds us on several occasions that he has heroically “ended” seven wars and conflicts worldwide, including the India-Pakistan war. However, his dream has been shattered as the Nobel Peace Prize has been announced.
Who is María Corina Machado, the Venezuelan leader Trump mentions?
According to the official release, the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 was awarded to Maria Corina Machado “for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.” After failing to win the Nobel Prize as well, US President Trump made a bold statement that clearly indicated his disappointment.
What did Trump claim about María Corina accepting the Nobel Prize?
The US President Donald Trump announced that Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was given the Nobel Peace Prize in his (Trump’s) name. Trump claimed that he had extended assistance to the awardee, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, on multiple occasions.
Furthermore, Trump stated that the Venezuelan opposition leader called him and accepted the prize “in honour” of him. “The person who got the Nobel Prize called me today and said, ‘I am accepting this in honour of you because you really deserved it’… I didn’t say, ‘Give it to me’, though. I think she might have… I’ve been helping her along the way. They needed a lot of help in Venezuela during the disaster. I am happy because I saved millions of lives…” Trump said while speaking to reporters at the White House, as reported by news agency ANI.
“In the past year, Ms Machado has been forced to live in hiding,” reads the official website of the Nobel Prize. Even though she has faced serious threats against her life, she remains in her country, a decision that has motivated millions of people.
“Ms Machado has been a key, unifying figure in a political opposition that was once deeply divided – an opposition that found common ground in the demand for free elections and representative government,” reads the press release.
Which wars or conflicts did Trump cite in his Nobel campaign?
Trump, who had expected to receive the prize for his efforts to “end seven wars,” also linked the conflict in Ukraine to his broader peacemaking claims. “I said, ‘Well, what about the seven others? I should get a Nobel Prize for each one’. So they said, ‘but if you stop Russia and Ukraine, sir, you should be able to get the Nobel’. I said I stopped seven wars. That’s one war, and that’s a big one,” he told the gathering, listing conflicts he said were halted under his leadership, including “Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Rwanda and the Congo.”
