CM must send DGP on leave: Abhay

Following the transfer of Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya, INLD national president Abhay Singh Chautala said CM Nayab Singh Saini should send the DGP too on leave with immediate effect to facilitate an impartial inquiry into the suicide case of senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar.

“An impartial investigation cannot be ensured as long as the DGP continues in his post. There are established protocols for investigation. How can an officer of lower rank fairly investigate someone at a higher post? The DGP must be sent on leave immediately to ensure fair inquiry. The government should also ensure justice to the bereaved family by not shielding anyone,” said Abhay while talking to the media in Jhajjar on Saturday.

The INLD president said it was unfortunate that even after five days, the government had neither got to the root of the case nor taken any concrete decision. Action must be taken against all officials named by Kumar in his final note, he stated.

In reply to a question, Abhay said the growing popularity of the INLD had left opposition leaders anxious and frustrated, so cheap tactics were being adopted to tarnish his image. He claimed that a doctored video, containing a comment related to the suicide of the IPS officer, was being circulated on social media to defame him.

“I want to assure the grieving family that the INLD stands firmly with them and is prepared to fight every possible battle to secure justice for the late officer,” he said.
