WAVES 2025: PM Modi Inaugurates Audio-Visual Summit, Says 'It Is A Wave Of Culture, Creativity'

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated WAVES 2025, the first-ever World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit in Mumbai. The inauguration ceremony was held at Jio World Centre.

During his inaugural address, the Prime Minister said that artists, creators, investors and policy makers from more than 100 countries have come together under one roof. PM Modi called WAVES Summit as aa "wave of creativity".

PM Modi's Address:

"WAVES not merely acronym, it's a wave of culture, creativity, film music, gaming, story telling," the Prime Minister stated.

Emphasising on creativity, PM Modi said that this is the tight time for "create in India, create for the world". He added that the the world is looking for new ways of story-telling.

Highlighting the contribution of entertainment industry in the Indian economy, the Prime Minister said, "In the coming years, the creative economy can increase its contribution to India's GDP...Today, India is emerging as a global hub for film production, digital content, gaming, fashion, music and live concerts...This is the dawn of the Orange Economy in India."

He added that our Gods too express themselves with dance and song.

Lauding the achievements of the Indian cinema, the Prime Minister said, " In the last century, Indian cinema has been successful in making India popular in every part of the world. This is evident from Raj Kapoor's popularity in Russia, Satyajit Ray's popularity at Cannes, and RRR's success at the Oscars."

“A.R. Rahman, Rajamouli, Ritwik Ghatak, everyone has made a place in the world for Indian cinema. In the last few years, I have met people from the gaming industry, from stars in front of the camera. Whenever I met you all, I took ideas from you," he added

This four-day global summit, which began today, May 1, will continue until May 4. It is set to position India as a global hub for media, entertainment, and digital innovation.

The summit has attracted an impressive participation of over 10,000 delegates, 1,000 creators, more than 300 companies, and over 350 startups from over 100 countries.
