It’s surrounded by valleys and Pavana Lake. The literal translation of the name of this fort is ‘Iron Fort,’ which symbolises the strong defensive structure. Lohagad Fort was built centuries ago and played a key role in various dynasties, including the Marathas. The most famous feature of Lohagad Fort is the Vinchu Kata, a scorpion tail structure that extends from the fort. This fort is popular among trekkers and history enthusiasts.

3. Pratapgad Fort

Pratapgad Fort is located in the Satara district of Maharashtra. It is a huge hill fort that was built in 1656 by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This majestic fort played an important role in the defense strategy of the Maratha empire. The fort is known as the site of the legendary battle between Sivaji and Afzal Khan.
