Police raid colony, bust illegal liquor unit in Ambala dist

The police have unearthed an illegal liquor manufacturing unit at a colony of Shahzadpur in Ambala district and seized 109 boxes of spurious liquor (desi/country made), 540 litres of spirit, 9,600 empty bottles, 6,400 lids and several other goods and machineries.

On the complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector Narayan Singh of Shahzadpur police station, a case has been registered against Gurpreet Singh of Uprali-Dhamauli village, Surinder Singh of Bapauli village, Sandeep of Dhanana village, Sachin of Govindpur village and Bittu of Dhanana village under various Sections of the BNS and the Punjab Excise Act 1914 (Haryana Amendment Bill 2020).

The police received information last night that spurious liquor was allegedly being manufactured at a factory being run from a rented house near Modern City Colony.

A team led by the SHO of Shahzadpur police station, Jitender Singh Dhillon, immediately raided the area.

At the time of the raid, four persons — Gurpreet Singh, Surinder Singh, Sandeep and Sachin — were present in the factory. They told the police that Bittu of Dhanana village reportedly owned the liquor factory.

As per information, the police seized 109 boxes of spurious liquor (desi/country made) of Punjab Rasila Santra, Masti Malti and Asli Mota Santra brands. All boxes were without batch numbers.

The police team also seized three drums of spirit and 2,050 empty liquor packing boxes, hologram numbers and QR code. It also seized two machines. The names of two distilleries were written on the lids.

The SHO said they were carrying out a drive to stop the sale of illegal liquor in the district.

“The four accused have been arrested and were produced before a court today, which sent them to four-day police custody,” he added.
