Yamunanagar-Jagadhri tops state in property ID self-certification
The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has secured the top position in Haryana in the ongoing self-certification drive for property IDs, with over half of its properties already verified by residents.
As per official data, 1,08,916 property IDs — amounting to 50.08% of the total 2,17,454 — have been self-certified in the MCYJ jurisdiction. This puts it ahead of all other municipal corporations in the state.
Hisar ranks second, with 65,889 out of 1,55,495 property IDs (42.37%) self-certified by residents.
Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha said, “Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri is at the top position in Haryana in self-certification work of property IDs. We are making efforts to achieve the target of 100 percent self-certification.”
He said MCYJ teams were going door to door to assist residents in completing the certification process. “Our staff is visiting every colony to help people verify their property details,” he said.
The self-certification drive aims to update and verify critical property data such as owner names, plot size, and addresses. This ensures that tax bills are generated accurately and eliminates issues during property sale and purchase transactions in the revenue department.
Sinha urged residents to actively support the initiative. “People should verify their property IDs themselves. If a person self-certifies his or her property ID, it will be locked and no one will be able to tamper with it,” he said.
For those unable to verify their details online or independently, the Municipal Corporation has set up assistance counters. “If the property owner is unable to verify his property himself, he can get it verified at MCYJ offices located in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri,” Sinha said.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Ashok Kumar said citizens could also approach the Citizen Suvidha Kendras. “Those who can’t do it themselves can visit the counters set up in all three MCYJ offices,” he said.
The civic body is continuing efforts to ensure 100 per cent verification across the district.
