Temples Across Karnataka To Hold Special Prayers Honouring Armed Forces After Operation Sindoor

The Karnataka government has called for statewide temple prayers in recognition of the Indian armed forces’ success in Operation Sindoor, a military operation launched in retaliation for the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Minister for Transport and Muzrai, Ramalinga Reddy, announced the directive during a press briefing in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

A circular issued by the Commissioner of Hindu Religious Institutions and the Endowment Department outlined the intent of the prayers — to express gratitude and support for the soldiers involved in the operation. The order mandates that all temples governed by the Muzrai Department participate in this tribute.

The circular states, as per IANS, "The Indian armed forces have successfully carried out attacks on terrorist camps under the name Operation Sindoor to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack."

Minister Reddy lauded the military’s swift and decisive action and emphasised the importance of standing united in support of national security.

Highlighting India’s enduring respect for its military, Reddy referenced past operations under leaders like Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, while also suggesting that a comparable response should have been taken after the Pulwama attack in 2019, which claimed 40 CRPF lives.

In line with the directive, special prayer ceremonies have been scheduled at several key temples, including Bengaluru’s Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. and Banashankari Temple from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The announcement has resonated with families affected by the Pahalgam attack. Sumathi, mother of Manjunath Rao — a businessman who lost his life in the incident — expressed her appreciation for the initiative. "We don't want innocent people to die, and families should not suffer. Those who create unrest without reason should not be spared. They must be dealt with firmly to ensure our country remains safe and prosperous," she said, as per the report.
