Amid the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, a complete blackout has been enforced in several parts of India. Blackout was enforced in Jammu and the sirens were heard across the city.
"Blackout in Jammu now. Sirens can be heard across the city," tweeted Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on X.
Besides Jammu, a complete blackout was also enforced in Haryana's Panchkula and Ambala as part of the precautionary measure.
Omar Abdullah, in another tweet, has also appealed to everyone in and around Jammu to stay off the streets and stay at home.
"It’s my earnest appeal to everyone in & around Jammu please stay off the streets, stay at home or at the nearest place you can comfortably stay at for the next few hours. Ignore rumours, don’t spread unsubstantiated or unverified stories & we will get through this together," Abdullah posted on X.
On Friday evening, explosions were heard in Samba region as India's air defence system intercepted Pakistani drones amid blackout. Similar firing were reported in Pooch, Samba and other areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The explosions come even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is crucial meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval and CDS Anil Chauhan.
