Amidst Pak shelling, LoC villagers shifting to safer places, many houses damaged

POONCH, May 9: Amidst heavy shelling by Pakistan Army on Poonch City, closer to the Line of Control besides dozens of other LoC villages, a large number of people from these areas have shifted to safer places.
Official sources said that about 90 % of the people from Poonch city have moved to the safer shelters while, many border villagers are taking refuge in the individual or the community bunkers. They, however, said that during last two days of attack on the civilian areas, dozens of cattle have been killed.
With the continuous heavy shelling by the Pakistani Army in Poonch, many houses have been damaged in Poonch city and other parts of Poonch including Mandi, Sawjian, Shahpur, Nangali, Jhullas, Mankote and Balakote besides parts of while people have been relocated to safer places by the administration and many moved by themselves.

The administration has made elaborate arrangements for their stay at the safer places. The teams of officials led by Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars are visiting the temporary shelter camps created in different areas of Surankote tehsil. Many people have also moved to their relatives in Jammu, Rajouri, Reasi or other areas. Many villagers from Lam, Jhangar, Nowshera, Manjakote and Sunderbani have shifted to the safer locations and temporary camps created by administration.s
Tehsildar Mandi, Ashfaq Hussain said that due to heavy shelling by Pakistan last night, one person was killed at Lohelbella while three others receives minor injuries in our jurisdiction, approximately 10 houses were damaged in Tehsil Mandi including Baila, Lohilbella, Sawjian, Gagrian and a PHC Maidan, Non functional Dak Bungalow also receives damage while more than 800 people were shifted to the safer places in Tehsil Mandi, the network connectivity from Bedar area to Sawjian and some parts of loran was affected which was later restored.
Tehsildar Haveli, Azhar Majid said that more than 60 houses and other buildings were damaged during Pakistani shelling in last two days while in the supervision of senior officers, thousands of people from our jurisdiction were displaced to the safer areas, and we are ensuring each and every basic facility to people at this time.
Ghulam Nabi Khan, an owner of a house which was damaged last night in Baila area in Mandi said that it was very scary when a shell hit the house. “We were frustrated at that time, took out women, children who were sleeping in different rooms, fortunately with the help of neighbours we managed to get out of it but my son Waseem was injured and the house was completely damaged along with the two nearby houses which receives partial damages.
Many residents of Poonch city including Shoib Mir and Ramesh Kumar said that the situation during Pakistan shelling it was worst and we were just praying that shell may not hit our house as we have no other option left except to sit and wait for the ceasefire, but Pakistan didn’t stop till morning. People cursed Pakistan for bombing the city and other residential area to kill the civilians and said that though we suffered loses but we always stand by the country and the army.
