Illegal MTP kits seized from Rohtak hospital
A team of the Health Department raided a private hospital at Lakhan Majra town in Rohtak
district for allegedly selling medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) kits illegally.
Two illegal MTP kits were seized and a case was registered against the director-cum-partner of the hospital.
The office of the district Civil Surgeon had received a tip-off regarding the MTP kits being illegally given to pregnant women at a hospital in Lakhan Majra.
A team was constituted to investigate the matter and take legal action in this regard.
The team, comprising Rohtak PCPNDT Nodal Officer Dr Vishvjeet Rathee, MPHW Ranjit Singh and Rohtak Drug Control Officer Mandeep Maan raided Sanjeevani Hospital at Lakhan Majra.
The hospital director, Naresh, told the raiding team that he had bought the MTP kits from a chemist shop at Julana town.
“MTP kits can be sold only by authorised persons and at places registered under the MTP Act. The said hospital has not registered with the district authority under the Act,” Dr Rathee said.
A case has been registered in this regard.
