Rs 3K crore approved for Jalori Jot tunnel, says Vikramaditya
Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh has announced the approval for the construction of 60 roads in the Anni Assembly constituency under phase 4 of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. These roads, which will be built soon, make the Anni region with the highest number of sanctioned roads under the scheme, he added.
Addressing the crowd as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Anni Mela, Singh emphasised his commitment to the area’s development. He said forming a division of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Anni would be considered, and he would raise the matter prominently in the Cabinet. “Anni is my home, and its development will always be my priority,” he declared, assuring residents that he would personally oversee the implementation and progress of the 60 approved roads.
The leader also provided an update on the construction of the Jalori Jot tunnel, revealing that a Budget of approximately Rs 3,000 crore had been allocated for the project, with work set to commence soon. In addition to infrastructure development, the minister reassured residents that the formation of Nagar Panchayat Anni would be completed without delay. He explained that once the census was concluded, the Urban Development Department would expedite the necessary formalities. Singh reaffirmed his commitment to working beyond party politics, following the path set by his late father, Virbhadra Singh, in his dedication to the state’s progress.
Touching on national security, Singh expressed strong support for the military’s efforts to combat terrorism. “The nation must stand united in the face of conflict with Pakistan. In times of crisis, we should be prepared to make any necessary sacrifices for our country,” he stated.
The minister announced a grant of Rs 11,000 for students of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Anni, in appreciation of their outstanding performance at the fair.
Earlier, Singh inaugurated key road projects, including a 1-km link road from Shailputri Mata to Shai and a 4.5-km stretch from Muhaan to Madech. He noted that Rs 2.7 crore had been invested in these projects and assured residents that further paving work would be completed soon.
The Anni Mela Committee, led by Chairman Lal Singh, warmly welcomed and honoured the minister during the ceremony. Following the festivities, Singh convened a review meeting with department heads of the Anni subdivision, where he issued special directives to the PWD, urging the timely completion of various road and building projects. Additionally, he instructed the Jal Shakti Department to expedite pending schemes and took feedback on boosting tourism in Raghupurgarh and Bagasarahan.
