A staff member of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad was declared "persona non grata" for engaging in activities that it called "incompatible" with his privileged status.
A statement issued by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that the concerned official had been directed to leave the country within 24 hours, reported PTI.
"The Government of Pakistan has declared a staff member of the Indian High Commission, Islamabad, as persona non grata for engaging in activities incompatible with his privileged status," the statement read.
The Ministry further said that the Indian Charge d'Affaires was also called on Tuesday for a démarche, conveying this decision.
Earlier, a Pakistani official working at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi was expelled for allegedly indulging in espionage, as per the report.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the official was involved in activities that were not in keeping with his official status in India, and he had been given 24 hours to leave the country.

The move comes as ties between the two nations plunged following a four-day military confrontation.
The expulsion of the Pakistani diplomat came shortly after a senior Indian military officer briefed defence attaches and representatives from around 70 countries on the successful operation of Operation Sindoor.
The major counterterror operation was launched on May 7 in retaliation to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir where 26 civilians including a Nepali national were killed.
Following the dastardly attack, India launched a strong diplomatic offensive against Pakistan announcing drastic scaling down military and diplomatic ties.
Shortly after the attack, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that Defence, Military, Naval, and Air Advisors posted at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi were declared persona non grata. The officers were directed to leave the country within seven days.
New Delhi also withdrew its own Defence, Navy, and Air Advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. Both countries also pulled back five support staff members attached to these military advisors.
