Berhampur: Shanti Mishra Murder Accused Absconding for 12 Years Arrested in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, the Berhampur Police arrested one more accused in connection with the sensational Shanti Mishra murder case.
Madhab Panigrahi (42), who was absconding for 12 years, was arrested by the Gosaninuagaon police team led by Dysp Smruti Prava in Bhubaneswar following a two-month-long operation.
Shanti Mishra was murdered by 13 persons by throwing bombs in 2013. As many as 11 accused persons were convicted for life. Recently 12th accused Shanti Mouza Mishra was arrested.
Madhab Panigrahi, son of Sibaram Panigrahi from Trinath Temple Street, Gosaninuagaon, had been absconding since the crime in 2013.
After committing the murder, Panigrahi fled to Gujarat to avoid arrest. A few years later, he returned to Bhubaneswar, where he initially worked in a shop before setting up his own. Recently, he was employed as a driver for Ola and Uber. Despite the death of his mother, Panigrahi never returned to his hometown, Berhampur, to avoid detection.
The Gosaninuagaon police, acting on intelligence, tracked Panigrahi’s movements for two months before apprehending him in Bhubaneswar, said Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
The SP also lauded the Gosaninuagaon police team for their relentless efforts in arresting the long-absconding accused in connection with the case.
