RCB's Phil Salt 'Focused' On Sealing Playoffs Ticket, Acknowledges Support From Fans

RCB Vs KKR: The start to the RCB Vs KKR, IPL 2025 Match 58 has been delayed due to rain at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, as both teams are alive in the race for playoffs.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, RCB's Phil Salt called for 'focus' and 'mental strength' as the side moves into the final phase of the group stage.

The English batter won IPL 2024 with KKR, and is now set to go against his former employers, knowing that a win against the reigning champions all but end their title defence for the season.

The opener also opened up on Virat Kohli's Test retirement, stating that the entire RCB squad is focused on playoffs qualification, and that they 'have not talked about it much'.

Here's What Phil Salt Said Ahead Of RCB Vs KKR

"Feeling good. Not played a game of cricket in a while so pretty excited to be back at full health."

"I work on the basics of batting, making sure I'm aligned and hitting the ball back where it comes from is always my first stop but definitely hitting the ball hard is one of the things I do regularly almost every training session just to stay on top of it."

"[Feeling when the ball hits the bat and leaves the ground] It's brilliant. The enjoyment is probably in everything it takes to get there and sometimes you hit so many balls that the result you sort of gloss over it and it's nice. I always thing back to moments like that when you play well and win a game for your team. What sort of goes before it and how disciplined I was."

"[On moving to the playoffs] When you're coming down the road to get to the Chinnaswamy, there's a sea of people. It's unbelievable support we've got here. Every game we have that must win mentality. It's pretty infectious what comes from the fanbase so it's a case of win 3 more in the group stage and then see where we end up from there."

"[On the talk in the dressing room over Kohli's Test retirement] Not a lot to be honest. We haven't spoken much about it. Virat certainly won't be wanting people to speak about that. It's all about the playoffs and how we finish the group stage. That's been our focus."
