5 senior-most SC judges, including CJI, to sit during 1st week of summer vacation

Five senior-most judges of the Supreme Court, including Chief Justice of India BR Gavai, will hold courts from May 26 to June 1 — during the first week of the ensuing summer vacation.

According to a notification issued by the Supreme Court, the summer vacation—rechristened as “partial court working days”—would be from May 26 to July 13. The Supreme Court will regularly function from July 14, 2025, on reopening, the notification said.

In all there will be 21 vacation Benches and two to five Benches will sit during each of the “partial court working days” as against the earlier practice of having only two vacation Benches not manned by senior judges during the summer break.

The Registry will remain open from 10 am to 5 pm for all officers and staff and will remain closed on all Saturdays, (other than July 12, 2025), Sundays, and public holidays.
