Gurugram development authority plans to build underpass to decongest Golf Course Road

In an effort to decongest Golf Course Road, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is planning to construct an underpass at AIT Chowk.

AIT Chowk serves as a vital intersection connecting Sectors 53, 54, 55 and 56, with heavy traffic movement from Cyber City, Golf Course Road and MG Road. It also acts as a key entry and exit point for commuters heading towards Delhi and Sohna Road via Golf Course Extension Road. Currently, signal controlled traffic at this roundabout results in long snarls during peak hours, particularly during the morning and evening office rush. The proposed project aims at streamlining traffic flow, reducing bottlenecks and offering seamless connectivity between key residential sectors and commercial hubs. Owing to the mess on intersection city’s traffic police moved to the GMDA.

The GMDA then planned that an underpass (yet to be approved) will allow uninterrupted movement of through traffic along Golf Course Road while segregating vehicles moving in other directions. “Gold Course road needs decongestion at AIT Chowk. The traffic police approached us in February and we prepared a proposal. If executed, it will help eliminate traffic signals at this junction, ensuring smooth flow and reducing travel time,” said a GMDA official.
