WATCH: LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi gets engage with Abhishek Sharma in a heated spat in IPL 2025

New Delhi: During an IPL 2025 game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants, on Monday, there was a heated exchange of words between LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi and SRH batter Abhishek Sharma. The confrontation came following Sharma’s removal for 59 runs, after which Rathi had done a celebratory action that Sharma felt was taunting. This prompted an argument between the two players. Replays indicate that Rathi’s action could have been responsible for the rift.

Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets on Monday. Abhishek Sharma’s stupendous 59 runs from 20 balls, with six sixes, secured the win and knocked Lucknow Super Giants out of IPL playoff chances.

Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram each scored impressive half-centuries (65 and 61 runs respectively), but Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowling restricted Lucknow Super Giants to a final total of 205 for 7 wickets.

With his opening partner Travis Head unavailable due to illness, Abhishek provided a strong start to the run chase, setting the stage for Heinrich Klaasen’s and Kamindu Mendis’s later contributions of 47 and 32 runs respectively.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who required a win to stay in the contention, lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who had already been eliminated. This loss marks the end of a lackluster season for LSG and its captain, Rishabh Pant, whose performance fell short of expectations considering his large contract.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) each have two remaining matches in their current season. A key moment in one of SRH’s matches involved Abhishek Sharma hitting four consecutive sixes off Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling.

Leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi’s strong debut season was the only positive aspect of Lucknow Super Giants’ bowling performance.
