'Raid 2’ roars at box office: Crosses ₹200 crore worldwide, ₹150 crore in India

The crime-thriller, Raid 2, which hit the screens on May 1, 2025, has garnered a reputation as one of the most successful Bollywood movies of the year. The film has surpassed ₹150 crore at the Indian box office within just 3 weeks of its release, and has entered the coveted ₹200 crore club in global earnings. Despite Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Final Destination Bloodlines being massive international competitors, Raid 2, helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta, has shown remarkable resilience at the box office, maintaining an upward trajectory in collections.
The film has enjoyed a successful theatrical run and crossed the milestone after just 18 days. As reported by trade portal Sacnilk, “The crime drama thriller has grossed approximately 201.50 crores worldwide, including around 177.50 crores in India and 24 crores overseas in 18 days.” It is only the second Bollywood movie after Chhaava to achieve this in 2025.
The film opened with a strong ₹19 crore on day one, and gained momentum during its opening weekend to collect ₹55 crore total. Even with strong competition in week 2, the film still managed to perform well with ₹6-8 crore on weekdays each day. Week 3 saw a boost again, especially in urban centres that included Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.
The success of Raid 2 builds on the foundation laid by its predecessor, Raid (2018), which had earned close to ₹154 crore worldwide.
The compelling storyline and the alluring cast of prominent actors seem to be keeping the film's success rolling. Ajay Devgn once again delivers an outstanding performance, maintaining his quiet intensity as the fearless officer. Playing the antagonist, Riteish Deshmukh heightens the tension with his acting skills. While Vaani Kapoor shines in a role that adds emotional depth, Saurabh Shukla holds his own in being both a shrewd and a menacing character.
Along with its box office success, Raid 2 has generated discussions of tax reform, accountability and ethics in politics. The film also generated a buzz on social media with fans tweeting critiques, theories, memes and praising it.
