Trees Uprooted, Flights Diverted, Billboard Fallen: Heavy Rain, Hailstorm Bring Havoc In Delhi-NCR

Delhi Weather Updates: Parts of Delhi-NCR experienced strong winds with a dust storm, followed by heavy rains and hailstorm on Wednesday evening, bringing respite from scorching heat and plummeting humidity. The sudden change in weather across the NCR has brought down the temperatures to 33 degrees Celsius.

During the strong winds with a dust storm, parts of the NCR experienced damage like uprooting of trees, which disrupted traffic. A tree was uprooted at Teen Murti Marg after Delhi received gusty winds, with heavy rainfall and a hailstorm, as per ANI reports.

In parts of Janakpuri, trees were also uprooted and traffic was disrupted following a sudden change in weather in Delhi, news agency PTI reported.

Similarly, the Sansad Marg in Delhi also experienced the uprooting of trees and disruption of traffic after the city experienced a sudden temperature change. In addition, the billboard of Noida Sector 37 has also fallen.

Metro Services Affected

Meanwhile, Metro services on the Red, Yellow, and Pink Lines were affected after a sudden windstorm damaged overhead equipment and caused debris to fall on the tracks near Shaheed Nagar, Jahangirpuri, and Nizamuddin stations. Citing the DMRC report, news agency IANS confirmed that teams are currently on-site, working to remove the debris and fix the damaged equipment to resume normal operations at the earliest.

Indicating the sources' report, news agency ANI confirmed that several domestic and international flights to Delhi airport from various airports have been halted or diverted due to a change in weather conditions in Delhi.

The Delhi Fire Department has received 25 calls so far reporting fallen trees at various locations. As of now, there are no reports of any casualties.
