Neera Loomba Foundation conducts food drive at Chandi Kusth Ashram

Neera Loomba Foundation marked the 72nd birth anniversary of Neera Loomba with a heartfelt food donation drive at Chandi Kusth Ashram in Chandigarh. The ashram is home to over 160 individuals and families affected by leprosy. During the initiative, the foundation provided essential supplies of rice and sugar, sufficient to support the residents for a couple of weeks.

Beyond the donation itself, the drive focused on human connection. The foundation volunteers spent quality time engaging with the residents, listening to their stories, and creating a space of warmth and dignity. Dr Aditi Loomba, Founder of the Neera Loomba Foundation, emphasised the importance of connection, saying, “The real impact begins when we stop looking away. We want to ensure these food drives become more regular, reaching people who are often forgotten.”

Vandana Tripathi, who participated in the drive, shared her experience, saying, “Being here today was a powerful reminder that empathy is action. Every conversation we had, every smile we received – it’s something that stays with you.” Pragya, another participant, added, “We often underestimate what presence can mean. Just showing up with compassion can bring light to places long left in the dark.”

The foundation continues to focus on bringing care and compassion to the margins, one drive, one conversation, and one smile at a time.
