Hyderabad-Based Doctor Namrata Chigurupati Orders Cocaine Worth ₹5 Lakh From Mumbai-Based Drug Peddler; Caught Red-Handed By Police

Hyderabad: A city-based doctor Namrata Chigurupati was arrested Saturday in a drugs case, according to Telugu reports. As per Chigurupati's LinkedIn account, she is a radiation oncologist and the chief executive officer of Hyderabad's Omega Hospital.

According to a report by Telugu Scribe, Chigurupati was caught when she was purchasing cocaine from a Mumbai-based drug-peddler named Vansh Takkar. The doctor reportedly sent Rs five lakh online to Takkar and ordered 53 grams of cocaine.

Acting on the inputs about Chigurupati allegedly ordering drugs, the police raided her residence, Aparna One Apartment, in the Sheikhpet area. She was caught red-handed taking drugs, reported Telugu Scribe.

As per ABN News reports, the Mumbai-based drug peddler sent drugs to the lady doctor through his aide, Balakrishna Rampyar. After getting information, the Rayadurgam police arrested Rampyar when he was handing over the drugs to Chigurupati.

The police reportedly seized 53 grams of cocaine, Rs. 10 thousand in cash and two mobile phones. As per Telugu 360, the lady doctor was taken to a rehabilitation centre. However, there is no official confirmation in this regard.

The 34-year-old doctor is also a motivational speaker.

She completed MBBS in 2014 from Shadan Institute of Medicine Sciences. She pursued MD, Radiation and Oncology from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in 2017.
