Government Polytechnic Daman selected as CoE for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
With the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, as envisioned by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, India aspires to become a global AI powerhouse, leveraging cutting-edge technology for economic growth, governance, and societal progress. The demand for AI professionals in India is projected to reach 1 million by 2026.To realize this vision, the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu (DNH&DD), under the dynamic leadership of the Hon'ble Administrator, Government Polytechnic Daman has been selected as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML). This initiative is part of the India AI Mission, implemented by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. As part of this initiative, Government Polytechnic Daman will receive a grant of ₹68.98 lakh. The IndiaAI Mission will provide funding support of ₹68.98 lakh per data lab over a span of three years, covering both capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) to ensure the smooth functioning and sustainability of these labs. The lab will be equipped with 20 high-end desktops along with a GPU server along with required AI/ML software aimed at bridging the digital skills gap and creating a robust AI talent pool in the region. Through this Centre of Excellence, students from DNH&DD and nearby regions will gain access to advanced learning platforms focused on machine learning and artificial intelligence. This initiative aims to provide students with hands-on training and exposure to cutting-edge technologies, preparing them for future careers in AI and ML. The CoE will equip students with the latest tools and technologies in the field, aligning their skills with the demands of the modern job market. Additionally, various industries and government departments in the UT may also integrate AI/ML technologies and applications to enhance efficiency and productivity.The Hon'ble Administrator emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "The IndiaAI Mission will empower our youth with the skills required for the future, making them industry ready and enhancing the employability of our students. This is a significant step towards building a technologically advanced and digitally empowered society."
