India, Pakistan Agree To Stop All Firing, Military Action On Land, Air And Sea: Foreign Secy Misri

Minutes after US President Donald Trump announced ceasefire between India and Pakistan, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that it was agreed that both sides woudl stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time. He said that the DGMO of Pakistan called Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon.

"Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding. They will talk again on the 12th of May at 1200 hours," said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said.


Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire after talks mediated by the US.The US-brokered ceasefire came hours after militaries of India and Pakistan attacked each other’s military facilities, dangerously escalating the ongoing conflict.

"After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE," the US president announced in a post on Truth Social.

The announcement by Trump came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Pakistan Army chief Gen Asim Munir.Rubio also made a similar statement on X.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India and Pakistan have worked out an undertsanding on stoppage of firing and military action.

"India and Pakistan have today worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action. India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so," Jaishankar posted on X.
