India & Pakistan Agree To Complete & Immediate Ceasefire, Says US President Donald Trump
Washington DC: US President Donald Trump on Saturday informed that India and Pakistan have agreed to a "full and immediate ceasefire" after talks mediated by America. Confirming the development, foreign secretary Vikram Misri said the Pakistani DGMO called his Indian counterpart and agreed to a ceasefire from 5 pm.
Trump said on Truth Social, "After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar also confirmed the development, "Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity!" he said.
Addressing the media, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said,"Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian DGMO this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 5 pm." Notably, Misri did not mention any US mediation efforts.
