Schools Closed: Holidays announced from May 11, schools will remain closed for 51 days, Directorate of Education issues circular

Schools Closed: The country is facing a double whammy at this time – on the one hand, the scorching heat has made normal life miserable, while on the other hand, the increasing tension between India and Pakistan is increasing the concern of security agencies. Both these reasons have also affected the education structure of the country. From Delhi to West Bengal, important decisions have been taken regarding holidays and operation of classes in schools.

Delhi: Summer holidays before the scheduled time, but studies continue

Summer holidays have been announced in all government schools in the capital Delhi from 11 May to 30 June. That is, schools will remain closed for a total of 51 days, however, this order does not apply to private schools. The Directorate of Education has clarified that if the weather conditions are not favorable, the duration of the holidays can be extended further.

Remedial classes will be organized for students of class 9th, 10th and 12th so that the studies of the students are not affected. These special classes will run from 13 May to 31 May from 7:30 am to 10:30 am to save children from the scorching heat of the afternoon. Mathematics and science will be taught as compulsory subjects, while the third subject will be decided as per the need of the school.

Preparation for mock drill in 660 schools and 40 major markets

In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, security agencies have issued a high alert in Delhi. Preparations have been made for mock drill in 660 schools and 40 major markets of the capital. Its purpose is to make students and teachers aware of safety measures in emergency situations.

West Bengal: Holidays declared a week in advance

At the same time, the West Bengal government has started the summer holidays of schools a week before the scheduled date, keeping in mind the warnings of security agencies and the advice of the Meteorological Department. Now the holidays will be effective from May 9. This decision has been taken as a precaution in view of the possible danger.

Studies started in online mode

Many reputed private schools of Delhi, realizing the seriousness of the situation, have started conducting classes in online mode. Institutions like DPS Vasant Kunj, Indraprastha World School of Paschim Vihar and Queen Mary School started virtual classes from Friday itself. These schools believe that the safety of students is the top priority, so the online system has been implemented without even a day’s delay.
