Mumbai Monsoon Fury: 1 Dead, 1 Injured In Tree Collapse Amid Heavy Rains; BMC Receives 70 Tree Fall Complaints

Mumbai: Mumbai is lashed with above normal rainfall and thunderstorms since the arrival of monsoon. On Monday, one person lost his life and one was injured due to tree collapses.

As per BMC report, from Monday 8 am to Tuesday 8 am, in the period of 24 hours: The disaster management received complaints of tree collapses from total 70 locations, of which 46 were from City, 17 from western suburbs and 7 from eastern suburbs. The work of cutting/removed the fallen branches is underway.

One person lost his life, while another was injured due to tree collapses. A tree fell on Tejas Naidu (26) at Ganesh Maidan, Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli East. He was sent to Godrej Hospital for treatment, however he was declared dead. The incident took place at 8 pm on Monday.

While Sairaj Pawar (24), was injured after a tree branch fell on him at St. Xavier's College, Fort. He was admitted to St. George's Hospital for treatment and his condition is stable now.

While, total 53 incidents of short circuit were reported, with 39 in the City, 10 from western suburbs and 4 from eastern suburbs. No one was injured in these incidents.

While total 12 incidents of houses/wall/building collapse were reported, of which 6 were in the city, and 3 in eastern and western suburbs each. No injuries were reported in the incidents.
